Ọba Ewuare's sojourn through Isi Clan

In this interview, Pa Osabuoyen narrates the story of the tour of the Isi clan by Ọba Ewuare I. After his coronation, he toured the kingdom as it was traditionally required of the Ọba. The king entered this clan through Oghada town and the people of Evbogho waited tirelessly, but while they waited the king passed and they knew not. As the village elders awaited the great king, they instituted an Aro-Osun Ọba (altar of medicinal deity dedicated to the Ọba) and Obọgbaotọ (the hand cannot hold the land). These were to help them fortify their land but they ended up not noticing the presence of the monarch when he passed and to avoid trouble they went to appeal to him. When he returned, he planted an iroko tree at the spot where the altar was, which is today the Ake Deity Shrine at Evbogho village. This was proof of Ọba Ewuare’s mystical prowess. In addition, he narrates the coming of the Ilobi, who produced poison for arrows and was taken to the palace as an annual homage.
