Curator's Comment/s | This album contains photographs of objects from the Kingdom of Benin, Nigeria sold by the London-based dealer, William Downing Webster. Many of the photographs are annotated with information relating to the vendor/s and some include purchase prices. It is likely that the photographic series was compiled by Webster in the early 1900s. The object depicted in this photograph were sold by William Webster as follows: 11. unknown. 12. to Hans Meyer by 1907. Donated by Meyer in 1907 to the Världskultur Museerna, National Musuems of World Culture, Stockholm. Accession number: 1907.44.0400. 13. to the National Museum of Ireland, Dublin in 1900. Accession number: AE:1900.126. 14. to Hans Meyer in 1900. By exchange with Meyer in same year to the Ethnologisches Museum, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin.
